Appraisal: French Campaign Clock, ca. 1790

GUEST: It's been in my family since 1737.

APPRAISER: It's a very early form of traveling clock.

GUEST: Okay.

APPRAISER: Chances are it's not quite as old as the family lore would have it.

They're also sometimes called campaign clocks because they're associated with the military.

GUEST: Okay.

APPRAISER: This is the very beginning of a long tradition of French clocks that eventually became carriage clocks.

As far as value is concerned, I would put a retail value on it for between $3,000 and $4,000.
