-Only this year, there's a star attraction.

-Blue Wonder is making a star appearance.
-The Blue Wonder?
The horse that won the Havelston Cup?
-The very one.
-Hmm, I'm impressed.
[ Gulls crying ] ♪♪ ♪♪ ♪♪ ♪♪ -So, Mr. Irwin, your horse has been stolen?
-I went to bed, the horse was here.
I woke up, it was gone.
-What's the horse called?
-Blue Wonder.
-Ah, is that the horse that won the Havelston Cup?
-Aye, that's right, son.
-Must be worth a few quid.
-Tens of thousands!
-I noticed some CCTV cameras dotted around.
Don't get your hopes up.
♪♪ -They smashed your cameras up.
-I didn't hear a sound.
-What time did you go to bed?
-About half 10.
Woke up to exercise Blue Wonder.
When I got to the stable, the door was wide-open.
-Dad?
I saw the police car.
What's happening?
-Blue Wonder's been stolen.
-That makes no sense.
He's chipped, he's distinctive-looking.
Dad, no, what -- -I'm sorry, Tamara.
-Do either of you have any idea who could have done this?
-No!
-I need to call Nicole Devine.
-Why?
-I promised I'd bring Blue Wonder to the Strand Stakes.
She's gonna flip.
♪♪ -We need a crime number.
-Oh, there they are, smashing the camera.
-In case we have to claim on the insurance.
-Oh, we can sort that.
Can we get a copy of this, please?
-No problem.
-Where were you when the horse was stolen, Tamara?
It's just routine.
-I was having a night to myself at Ballymountain Manor.
The Spa Hotel.
Present from my dad.
-I decided Tamara deserved some pampering.
Since she got back from uni, she's been working her socks off around here.
-Could you do your best?
To find him?
-Of course.
-I know some people will say it's only a horse, but I've been looking after Blue Wonder since the day he was born.
-[ Door opens ] ♪♪ -Can either of you tell me what this is?
-Where'd you find it?
-In Blue Wonder's stall.
-What does that mean?
Did they sedate him?
Do these people have no idea how dangerous that is?!
♪♪ [ Horse neighs in distance ] -I have always wanted to see inside that house.
Ever since I was a wee lad.

-Honestly?

See, if I had their kind of money, I'd make it way more bling, like.

Ask Justin if he's in the market for an interior designer.
-[ Laughs ] [ Grunts ] ♪♪ [ Gulls cry ] ♪♪ -Stolen!

-Aye, poor Tamara.
She dotes on that horse.
-Poor Tamara?

I can just hear Claudia Preston now, "Oh, that Nicole Devine-Dunwoody's deluded.
She promised us an appearance from a prize-winning racehorse and all we've got are these old donkeys."
-Sweetheart, people will understand.
The whole thing's for charity, anyway.
-Well, I feel a bit of a fraud about that, now.
-Why?
-Raising money... for research into infertility... when I'm with child.
-Shh!
We said we weren't gonna tell anybody about that.
♪♪ -There she is.

Did you know you were pregnant with Finn when you left for the States?
-Yes.
♪♪ -I'm sorry.

I didn't deserve to be a father.

-Back then, I would have.
But meeting Finn, spending time with his family, it's a gift I never expected to receive.

♪♪ ♪♪ -So, why go to the trouble of sedating a horse?
-Uh, to keep him quiet?
-We don't know for sure that this vial contained a sedative.
Most of the label is missing.
-Yeah.
-You fancy ringing around some vets?
-Yeah.
Sure thing.
-While you're at it, call the ports and the airports.
The only value that animal will have is as breeding stock abroad.
♪♪ ♪♪ -I really wasn't expecting that kind of reaction from Aidan.
-I don't buy it.
-Barry...time passes, people change.
-I wouldn't trust that guy as far as I could throw him.
-[ Sighs ] ♪♪ -Thank you.

-[ Laughs ] You know, between me and that crazy woman, goodness knows how you ended up so grounded.
-Listen, I got a phone call last night from my mate... ...who works up at Hill Point Prison.
-Declan has made his own bed.
He can lie in it.

A friend's worried that he might do something stupid.
-What do you want me to do about that?
-Go and visit your son.
Listen, I know me and Declan didn't exactly hit it off.

I can't say that I have.
Is it anything important?
-Nothing that can't wait.

♪♪ -[ Sighs ] -Alright, kid?
-Alright, mate.
So, um, you know all those terrible things you did, that got you sent to prison?
What were they, exactly?
-[ Sighs ] ♪♪ -I'm sorry, I just don't get the whole horse thing.
You and the sarge both.
Marlene hates horses.
-Yeah.
Nearly as much as she hates pigeons.
-Pigeons?
-It's a long story.
-There's only one road up to Justin's property.
And there's only one CCTV camera on it.
-Don't tell me it got smashed up like the others.
-No, it didn't.
But I searched through all of last night's footage and I didn't see a vehicle that could carry a racehorse in it.
-It has to be a local who took the horse, then.
-Who around here would do something as nasty as that?
♪♪ [ Gulls cry ] ♪♪ ♪♪ ♪♪ ♪♪ -Oh, I can't imagine that was the reaction you were expecting.
-To be honest, no, it wasn't.
But maybe Aidan really has changed.
-I'll tell you what hasn't changed.
He still fancies you.

-That man stole my horse.

-Certainly did.

-What are we looking at?
-That watch.
That's Seamus Cassidy's watch.
I'd recognize that watch anywhere.
-How come?
-Cos I gave it to him.
Twenty years' loyal service.
-So, Seamus used to work for you?
-I knew he wanted a place of his own.
So, when the farm next door came up for sale, I helped him buy it.
And now he does this to me!
-Okay.
Why do you think Seamus would steal Blue Wonder?
-How should I know?
You need to ask him that question.
-Yeah, we will.
Just as soon as we find him.
♪♪ [ Mobile phone ringing ] -Taylor!
Oh, for heaven's sake!
[ Sighs ] Hello.
Taylor's phone.
This is Nicole Devine-Dunwoody speaking.
-How rude.
-Was that my phone?
-Yes.
They hung up.
-You answered it?
-Well, what else was I supposed to do?
-That horse?
Do you think it will end up as pet food?
-Blue Wonder is a prize-winning thoroughbred!
Do you hear this, hon?
Pet food indeed!
-Okay, that's the last couple of boxes.
I'll run them down to the beach.
-I'm going to stay here for a wee bit.
It's a while until the race starts.
-Okay.
-Excuse me, mister!
Aren't you forgetting something?
That's more like it.
-Alright, Marlene?
-Alright, Clint?
Mm-hmm.
Heard you two were back together again.
After a week in Ibiza of... "I never want to see that eejit again."
-Well, you know what me and Clint are like.
Hot and cold, on and off.
-Mm-hmm.

-Nothing.
-Taylor, what's changed?
-Look at the state of those tables.
I'd better give them a wipe.
-[ Clears throat ] -Why are you even here?
It's my day off.
I was gonna head to the beach.
But you know me and horses, like... -Oh, yes, after the incident at, uh, point-to-point.
-Exactly.
I just don't like the way they look at me, Nicole.
But anyway, I won't be near the beach today, so I thought I'd come and drop off my donation to the infertility charity.

I'm sure the infertile women will be... very grateful.

-No, I didn't.
That's actually really interesting.

[ Knock at door ] -Aidan.
-I've been to that place we spoke about.

♪♪ -Must be weird, having a new dad.
At his age.
♪♪ -So, my friend at the prison wasn't exaggerating?
-Not even slightly.
Declan's in a really bad way.

He can't hack it in there.
You should have seen the state of him.

-I don't know.
All I know is, I have to do something.
♪♪ ♪♪ -Mum, Aidan wants to, uh, show me round his old stomping grounds.

So, Seamus Cassidy had an accomplice?
-If Justin's right about him being the thief.

-I finally found out where that vial of medicine came from.
So, Justin's regular vet is away at a family wedding in Mauritius.
-Oh, nice.
-He's got a locum in.
The locum was round at Justin's place seeing Blue Wonder a couple of days ago.
She diagnosed him with...
"Laminitis."
-What's that when it's at home?
-It's a disease that affects the horse's foot.
Um, it requires total rest, or box rest and painkillers.
That's what was inside the vial, an anti-inflammatory drug that's injected in the horse every day.
-Right, so what does that mean for a racehorse?
-Well, if it's not caught early, it can be a disaster.
The horse might never race again.
-And was it caught early in Blue Wonder?
-Not according to the vet I spoke with.
She reckons Justin left it too late and she almost didn't go down to see him herself.
-Why?
-Justin hasn't been paying his vet's bill.
The only way the locum would go round and see Blue Wonder is if Justin paid in cash.
[ Gulls cry ] ♪♪ -Mr. Irwin, can we have a word?
-Have you arrested Seamus?
-We haven't been able to locate him yet.
-What was that about Seamus?
-Your father is convinced that Seamus stole Blue Wonder.
-Did you report Seamus to the police?
-I had to.
I couldn't withhold evidence.
-When my colleague showed you a medical vial earlier, neither of youse recognized it.
-That's right.
-What about you, Justin?
-I'm sorry.
I told a lie.
-Why?
-Because Blue Wonder has been diagnosed with laminitis.
-Laminitis!
Why on earth didn't you tell me?
-I didn't want to upset you.
I can't believe Blue Wonder is sick and I'm not able to look after him.
-So, what about the vial?
I must have dropped it when I was giving him his injection yesterday evening.
[ Mobile phone rings ] -Ryan, go ahead.
Great.
Okay, thank you.
Seamus Cassidy has just walked into the police station.
-Okay.
-Officers.
Seamus wouldn't do this to us.
He just wouldn't.
There must be some mistake.
♪♪ ♪♪ -Tell me, Seamus, where were you between 10:00 last night and 6:00 this morning?
-At home.
Caught up on a box set, I went to bed.
Why?
What's this all about?
-Do you wear a watch, Mr. Cassidy?
-[ Chuckles ] Sometimes.
Why?
-What sort of watch?
-Well, I've a few.
Nothing very special.
[ Chuckles ] You're not seriously saying that's me, are you?
I mean, that could be anybody.
-Is that your watch, Seamus?
-[ Sighs ] No.
-Right.
You won't mind if we take a look around your house then, will you?
♪♪ ♪♪ -What was all that with Mum earlier?
-[ Sighs ] Your mother accused me of just giving my baby away, without a care in the world.
-She doesn't know you very well.
-And you do?
-I know that you gave my dad up because you felt you had no choice.
-That's possibly the nicest thing anyone has said to me in a very long time.
-Now do me a favor.
Make it up with Mum.
She's a good person.
And...Dad loves her.
-You're a clever wee thing.
You must get that from my side of the family.
♪♪ ♪♪ -Is this your watch, Seamus?
-It looks a bit like mine, yeah.
-Well, we found it in your bedroom.
There is also an engraving on the back, "To SC."
-Seamus Cassidy.
-"From JI."
Justin Irwin.
-"Thank you for everything."

-Yeah, alright, okay, right.
Justin gave it to me.
-So, why did you steal his horse?
-Look, just because that's my watch does not prove that I am the person in the CCTV.
Okay?
A lot of watches look like that!
-You've worked with horses all your life, Seamus, so you know full well how much it takes to look after a thoroughbred like Blue Wonder.
-[ Clears throat ] -Is that horse being looked after, Seamus?
♪♪ -No comment.
♪♪ -Hey.
-Alright?
-I've just had Justin Irwin on the phone.
He wants his crime number so he can claim on the insurance.
-I bet he does.
-Why?
-Have you seen the state of his place?
Especially the stables.
Hasn't had a lick of paint in years.
Yeah, and he hasn't paid his vet bills.
-Plus, his star racehorse is sick.
Don't those things cost a fortune to look after?
I don't know, maybe he thought, get rid, claim on the insurance.
-I don't know.
Justin would just get rid?
I can't see it.
I mean, he loves his animals.
Might be worth having a wee chat with him.
-Sure.
-Where is Justin now?
-He's at home.

♪♪ ♪♪ -Jo... -The vet told Ryan that Blue Wonder needs regular injections.
We both know how much Justin loves that horse.
Let's just, um, hang back, see what he does.
♪♪ ♪♪ ♪♪ ♪♪ ♪♪ [ Bolt unlatches ] -[ Grunts ] Here y'are.
Good lad.
I'll look after you.
Have you better in no time, back on your feet there.
Trust me now... -Hello, Justin.
I take it this is Blue Wonder.
-It's not how it looks.
-It's exactly how it looks.
-Okay, Justin Irwin, I am arresting you for conspiracy to commit fraud.
You do not have to say anything, but I must caution you, if you do not mention when questioned something you later rely on in court it may harm your defense.
♪♪ ♪♪ -It seemed like a victimless crime.
-I don't think Tamara would agree with that.
She's been beside herself all day.
I was planning on telling her that Blue Wonder was okay.
Eventually.
-So, what was the idea of storming in here and pointing the finger at Seamus?
-I found out he was seeing Tamara behind my back.
-Right, and that's a problem because...?
-Because they didn't tell me.
-And the thought of them together...
He's old enough to be her father.
♪♪ -How did you get mixed up in this, Seamus?
Did Justin offer you a cut of the insurance money?
-No!
No, I... Look, I was just trying to help Justin, the way he helped me when I bought my farm.
By ripping off the insurance company?
Look, I didn't approve of that.
Honest.
But Justin -- [Sighs] he was gonna go ahead, whether I helped him or not.
So, I thought maybe I could keep him out of trouble.
And...
I felt guilty about the way that me and Tam had been lying to him about our relationship.
So...
I went along.
♪♪ -I could kill the pair of them.
-You had no idea your dad was having money troubles?
-He doesn't tell me anything.
Treats me like a child.
-Well, just so you know, Seamus thought that stealing Blue Wonder was a terrible idea.
-So, why the hell did he help my dad do it?
-I think he was doing it for you.
He was trying to keep your dad out of trouble.
-Idiot.
What will happen to them?
-Well, if your dad had filed the insurance claim, he and Seamus would be in big trouble.
But as it stands, they'll just be given a caution for wasting police time.

Just when Tamara came back from university, something between us had changed.
