GUEST: It is, his father bought it for him in the early '70s.
He actually bought it from a co-worker, he paid $100 for it.
My husband, Butch, this is the guitar that he learned to play on in high school and then in college, he was rhythm guitarist for a small band in Greensboro, North Carolina.
APPRAISER: Greensboro, North Carolina.
GUEST: Mm-hmm.
APPRAISER: This was basically a student guitar when it came out in 1954.
In 1958, they went to the double cut away and the original ones were single cut.
In '58, they started using this color, cherry.
Fabulous guitars, they were $132 new.
This is a 1960 Gibson Les Paul Junior.
Beautiful example.
It also has the original case and the original strap.
What if I told you it was about $12,000?
GUEST: I would say "oh my, that's excellent."
APPRAISER: Well, you can say, "Oh, my."
Because it's about $12,000.
GUEST: Wow!
APPRAISER: Retail and/or insurance value.
GUEST: He'll be so happy.
(laughs) APPRAISER: Good.
