We're Khruangbin from Houston, Texas.

[ Cheers and applause ] -For the first two albums we made, people sort of talked about them as being reminiscent of music from a particular place.

So, the first album, The Universe Smiles Upon You," people talked about as being Thai funk.

And the second album people talked about as being Middle Eastern funk.

And I think we wanted to make sure that this sounded like home in some way and that it wasn't sounding like a particular place other than where we're from.

And we thought if we actually try to sound like the world and as many places as possible, then we will sound like Houston because Houston is made up of so many different cultures that, you know, as a world-music listening band and world-music band, I guess, um, we felt like sounding like the world was sounding like Houston.
